The house
Thirty-four rooms, one very long lunch
Lantern was a lemon farmer's house before it was a hotel, and it still behaves like one. Breakfast runs until eleven because nobody has the heart to clear it. The terrace faces west, which is the only defensible direction for a terrace to face.
We are ten minutes above the water by the old stair, and forty minutes from Amalfi by boat when the sea allows it.

"We came for three nights and rebooked from the terrace on the second morning. The staff remember what you drink by day two, which sounds small and isn't."

"The stair down to the water is genuinely steep and genuinely worth it. Ask for the walking notes — they sent us up a path we'd never have found."

"Dinner was four courses of things we couldn't pronounce and all of it was right. The cellar bar afterwards is the actual reason to stay in rather than go out."

"Brought the dog, which nobody blinked at. Bed and bowl were waiting in the room. Small thing, made the whole trip possible."
